Abstract

A summary of the archeology and history of the Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge is provided, based upon a literature search and intensive archeological survey. Only one project component poses any possible threat to cultural resources; alternatives are discussed. A large preservation area encompassing the major portion of archeological resources is suggested, and three previously unrecorded prehistoric sites are described. The archeological zone and the three outlying sites are considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
