Abstract

At the request of Parks and Historic Sites Division, GaDNR, an archaeological survey was conducted along the proposed route of a buried irrigation line and reservoir at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Two surveyors walked the corridor, placing shovel tests at approximately 30 meter intervals, except on steep slopes and in heavily eroded areas. Shovel test soil was screened through W' mesh screens. No significant archaeological sites were recorded during the survey. The proposed project will have no effect on archaeological resources eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, and no additional investigation is recommended.
