Abstract

This report summarizes a cultural resource survey of an approximately ½ acre tract of land located on a knoll several hundred meters southeast of the Brasstown Work Center. The survey was necessitated by the planned construction of a pole shed, storage building, and attendant grading of the knoll. The acreage involved is part of the large Pfister and Vogel Land Company acquisition (Tract G-57Aa) and is located in Land Lot 212 of District 17, Union County. In addition to the field survey a literature search was performed. The State archeological site files, listings of the National Register of Historic Places, and Forest Service land acquisition files were consulted for information pertinent to cultural resources in the immediate vicinity. Although no information relevant to the project area was uncovered, the well known Track Rock Gap petroglyphs are located only 1.73 miles to the southeast.
