Abstract

A Phase I archeological resources survey was conducted for the proposed 32.4 hectare (80 acre) Franklin/Hart County Airport Runway 26 Extension in Franklin County, Georgia. The purpose of the survey was to locate and identify archeological resources within the project area, and to assess the significance of those resources using National Register of Historic Places criteria. Three archeological sites were recorded during the course of the survey, including one multi-component site consisting of an indeterminate prehistoric lithic scatter and a light historic artifact scatter, and two early 20th century residential sites. All three sites have been recommended ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
