Abstract

The project corridor runs for 3,614 linear feet [eft) 1.1 km) along the north side of Hickory Flat Road, extending southeast from the Marietta Road intersection to approximately 581 ft (177.2 m) beyond the 1-575 overpass, in the Canton city limits (Figures 1 and 2). The proposed undertaking will consist of improved sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, intermittent landscape strips, street trees, new drainage structures, crosswalks, and necessary signage. Within the project corridor, a 6 inch (15.2 cm) curb, 1.5 feet (0.5 m) gutter, and 6 ft (1.8 m) wide sidewalks will be added on the north side of the road. Where possible, the sidewalk will be buffered from the road with a 5 feet (1.5 m) wide landscape strip. A handrail will be used along a portion of the sidewalk adjacent to a steep downhill slope.
