Abstract

The proposed project would replace the existing bridge with a new 3-span concrete bridge that is approximately 40-foot wide and 330 feet long. The proposed bridge would accommodate two 12-foot travel lanes and two 6-foot shoulders. The proposed bridge would be constructed on new alignment that is offset from the existing bridge centerline approximately 60 feet to the south. The proposed right-of-way width along SR 156 would be approximately 160 feet. Traffic would be maintained on the existing bridge during the construction phase. In addition, the proposed project would realign two side streets (Battle Road and Culpepper Road) so they intersect at the same location on SR 156. The Battle Road realignment extends south of SR 156 approximately 300 feet and would require a maximum additional right-of-way of 80 feet. The Culpepper Road realignment would extend north of SR 156 approximately 700 feet and would require a maximum of 90 feet of additional right-of-way. The proposed right-of-way width along SR 156 would be expanded to approximately 230 feet. The Battle Road realignment would extend south of SR 156 approximately 350 feet and would require a maximum additional right-of-way of 70 feet. The Culpepper Road realignment would extend north of SR 156 approximately 750 feet.
