This report describes the results of the archaeological survey of the proposed Dade County Industrial Park, Trenton, Georgia. The archaeological survey was conducted for Hensley-Schmidt, Inc. with the purpose of identifying and evaluating all cultural resources within the proposed industrial park project area.
The survey began on June 5, 1980 and was completed on June 6, 1980.
The master plan for the industrial park indicates that potential impacts will occur on property designated as Phase I (Fig. 1). Phase I development impacts will consist of roadway, waterline, and sewer line construction and site grading.
The survey requirements, as outlined in. the proposal, included a literature and records check, and a field survey. The field survey included the use of pedestrian and subsurface techniques. Areas with adequate ground surface exposure were visually inspected for evidence of archaeological remains. Areas without adequate ground exposure were explored through the application of subsurface investigative techniques. Systematic surface collections and shovel testing techniques were made on all sites located. A detailed methodological statement is presented in the methodology section of this report.
