Abstract

Archaeological investigations were undertaken at the former location of the Thomas M. Gilmer House (c. 1800) in Oglethorpe County, Northeast Georgia. The house had been relocated in nearby Wilkes County. The archaeological investigations, were performed to aid in the restoration and reconstruction of the 'house at its new location. Excavations and surface collections were made in areas adjacent and peripheral to the house. A pattern of secondary refuse disposal is suggested by several reconstructable pearlware vessels discovered beneath the east half of the house.
