Archaeological Resources Survey for the Proposed Stamp Creek Substation, Bartow County, Georgia

Abstract

An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Stamp Creek Substation in Bartow County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. The tract consists of a 1.3 hectare (3.2 acres) substation area and an access road approximately 397 meters (1,300 ft) in length with varying widths between 23 to 43 meters (75 to 140 ft). The entire surveyed tract is approximately 2 hectares (5 acres) in size. The project tract is east of White, Georgia. The tract lies north of Stamp Creek, south of Stamp Creek Road NE. The tract contains a portion of Cartersville #14-Nelson 115 kV and Cartersville-McGraw Ford 230 kV existing transmission line corridor. This survey was conducted for Jordan, Jones & Goulding, Inc. No archaeological finds were identified during fieldwork. The proposed project will not affect significant archaeological resources. No additional archaeological resources investigations are recommended.
