Abstract

A cultural resource assessment survey was conducted of the proposed Genesis Point Marina, Bryan County, Georgia from December 1994 to January 1995. The Phase I archaeological investigation included a pedestrian survey of the 20 acre tract with systematic shovel testing at 30 meter intervals. One archaeological site (9BN 104 - Genesis Midden) was recorded that is a diffuse multicomponent marine shell scatter containing Deptford, Savannah, and Irene period ceramics. This site is viewed as potentially eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places, and further archaeological work is recommended if the site is to be impacted.
