Abstract

An archaeological survey of a proposed marina site at Strathy Hall Estates, near Richmond Hill, Bryan County, Georgia, was recently conducted by Charles Pearson, a graduate student in the Department of Anthropology, The University of Georgia. The entire marina site and approximately four acres adjacent to the marina were intensively surveyed on foot and no archaeological sites were identified. Since the area of the proposed marina had already been cleared and because the locality is poorly drained, subsurface testing was determined unnecessary for an adequate evaluation. The field study required slightly less than one-half man day. The most recent listing of the National Register of Historic Places was consulted and no sites which would be affected by the proposed construction were identified. All evidence derived from the archaeological study indicated that the proposed project will not adversely affect any archaeological or historical resources.
