Abstract

This brief report details a single day of investigations at the remnant portion of the famous Cold Springs site in Greene County, Georgia. A contour map was made, and 30 shovel tests were excavated into the site. These demonstrated that there is a fairly well-preserved portion of the site on Forest Service land that is about 1 hectare in size. It is primarily associated with a slight ridge that runs through the woods at the site in a north-south direction. Efforts should be made to preserve this site. It is likely that future excavations here might produce useful and important information about the site. It seems likely that there are structures and many archaeological features present here.
