Abstract

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of the proposed improvements to the Linwood Wastewater Treatment Facility on Lake Lanier, Hall County, Georgia. The survey was undertaken for the engineering firm of Jordan, Jones, and Goulding, Inc. The survey area consisted of a 19 ha (47 ac) tract that is adjacent to the existing portion of the Linwood facility. One archeological site was identified within the proposed area of potential effect. Site 9HL456 consists of a prehistoric lithic (quartz) scatter that occupies a narrow ridgetop in the central portion of the survey tract. Due to severe erosion and low research potential, this site is recommended ineligible to the National Register of Historic Places. The proposed undertaking will not adversely effect any significant archeological resources.
