The proposed project involves the widening of 1-20 from S. R. 6 in Douglas County to Hightower Road in Fulton County Lanes would be increased from four to six. Widening would be within the median with no additional right of way purchased. The project was plotted on the Mableton and Northwest Atlanta U.S.G.S. quad sheets. Since the proposed construction will be along the median area, the only possible archaeological concern was the bridge at the Chattahoochee. Upon examination the right of way area at the Chattahoochee was graded during the original construction of 1-20. Therefore, any sites in the area were destroyed at that time.
