Abstract

The following report describes a cultural resource survey of proposed U.S. Forest Service road number 1040-C, scheduled for construction during 1977. The road is located in compartment 127 of the Oconee National Forest, east of road 1040. The proposed route begins at road number 1040 at a point approximately 1.2 kilometers (.7 mile) southeast of Union Hill Church and approximately 2.6 kilometers (1.6 mile) south-southeast of the junction of the boundaries of Jasper, Jones, and Putnam Counties. From this point the proposed route extends in a south-southeasterly direction following an existing dirt road for approximately .7 kilometers (.45 mile) at which point it leaves the existing road, continues approximately .6 kilometers (.4 mile), and terminates.
