Archaeological Survey of the King Farm Coweta County, Georgia

Report Number
Year of Publication

This report presents the methods, results, conclusions, and recommendations of an archeological survey of the King Farm in southern Coweta County. The survey of the 67 1 ac farm was requested and sponsored by the owner, Mr. Kim King of Atlanta, who recognized that the property might contain significant archeological sites. Several artifact collectors, including the previous landowner, have noted that the farm contains several localities that produce numerous Indian artifacts. In order to assess the archeological potential of the tract and to make recommendations for further investigations, Mr. King contracted with Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS), to conduct an initial survey. Although both prehistoric and historic sites occur on the property, the survey focused on the prehistoric components. This report describes 22 archeological sites and outlines steps for more intensive survey and subsurface investigations.
