Abstract

From 28 April to 30 April 2003 an intensive cultural resource assessment survey was conducted by Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) of Jacksonville, Florida, of a 14-acre parcel in Coffee County, Georgia. The tract is the for a proposed Lowe's Home Improvement store in Douglas, Georgia.· The goal of the survey was to locate, identify, delineate, and evaluate all cultural resources within the parcel, including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, as well as historic structures. The cultural resource assessment survey included a pedestrian inspection combined with systematic shovel testing at 30-meter intervals. No structural remains or archaeological material were encountered within the study area. Based on these results, it is recommended that the proposed project be allowed to proceed without further concern for impact to significant cultural resources.
