Abstract

On 27 and 31 January 2003, an intensive archaeological resources survey was conducted by Brockington and Associates, Inc., for the proposed Pless Road Substation in White County, Georgia. The project area, covering approximately 2.7 hectares (6.8 acres), was located at the intersection of Pless Road and Highway 115. This field survey was carried out in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. No previously identified prehistoric or historic archaeological resources were located within the project area boundaries through background research at the State Site Files Database maintained by the Department of Anthropology of the University of Georgia, the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and the State Archives. No archaeological resources were identified during fieldwork. The results of the background research and field survey indicate that no significant archaeological resources will be affected by the proposed construction. No additional archaeological resources investigations are recommended.
