Abstract

An intensive cultural resources survey was conducted of the proposed 11.2 km Matt to Dawsonville transmission line route in Forsyth and Dawson Counties, Georgia. Four archeological sites and three artifact occurrences were located in the survey area. The sites consisted of one Middle Archaic site, one Late Archaic site, one prehistoric site of undetermined date and one late 19th century historic homestead. The three occurrences were of undetermined prehistoric date. None of the four sites are considered eligible for the National Register of Historic Places because they are badly eroded and yielded very few (typically undiagnostic) artifacts. There were no architecturally significant historic structures found.
