Abstract

The projects provided emergency repairs to culverts on Greenbriar Parkway (site 24) and Continental Colony Parkway (site 25) and to a bridge on Alison Court (site 34) in the city of Atlanta, Georgia.

The Greenbriar Parkway culvert is located just east of Barge Road. Flooding caused upstream streambanks to become eroded. To repair the damage, a negligible amount of riprap was replaced at downstream wingwalls and on the embankment. All work occurred within existing right-of-way (ROW).

The Continental Colony Parkway culvert is located just south of Greenbriar Parkway. Flooding caused erosion and scour in the stream channel and approaches. To repair the damage, riprap and concrete flow was installed at the downstream wingwalls. The area of repair was approximately 25 feet long by 20 feet wide (500 square feet) on one upstream corner and 60 feet long by 15 feet wide (900 square feet) on both sides of the downstream slope. Approximately half of the material used was replacement for what was eroded. All work occurred within the existing ROW.

The Alison Court bridge is located between Stanton Road and Plaza Lane. Flooding caused erosion behind the southeast wingwall. To repair the damage, riprap protection was installed at the eroded areas of the abutments and wingwalls. The area of repair was approximately 25 feet long by 15 feet wide at the inlet wingwalls and abutments, equaling 750 square feet. Approximately 75 percent of the material was replacement for what was eroded. All work occurred within the existing ROW.
