Revised Cultural Resource Management Plan for the Rocky Mountain Project, Floyd County, Georgia

Report Number

Abstract

The Rocky Mountain cultural resource investigations began in 1972 and have continued to 1997 with preparation of the project cultural resource technical synthesis. The initial cultural resources management plan (CRMP) was completed in 1981 by James J. Shive and amended in 1982. Since that time the planned project data recovery investigations have been completed and reported, and Oglethorpe Power Company assumed the responsibility for the Rocky Mountain Project from Georgia Power Company. The original CRMP assumed that seven cultural properties within the Rocky Mountain Project would be permanently preserved in place. One of those properties, 9FL151 (GP-FL-10), appears to have been destroyed by logging before the first CRMP was prepared. This report updates the 1981/1982 CRMP and includes six archaeological properties and one moved structure.
