Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the replacement of the existing bridge carrying State Route (SR) 109 Spur over Red Oak Creek, approximately 2 miles southwest of the City of Gay, Georgia (see Figure 1). Traffic would be maintained on an off-site detour during project construction. The proposed project would be approximately 800 feet in length. The existing right-of-way (ROW) is 100 feet wide along the mainline of SR 109, but it extends to a width of 150 feet at the bridge. The existing ROW northwest of the existing bridge extends to a width of 150 feet and is approximately 400 feet long. The proposed ROW on the north side of the bridge would add an additional 50 feet of ROW for a length of 250 feet to the southwest of the bridge and an additional 50 feet of ROW for a length of 150 feet to the northeast of the bridge. An additional 50-foot by 800-foot swath of ROW would be required on the south side of the bridge.
