Abstract

The proposed project would consist of various pedestrian upgrades along SR 28 (Greene Street) in downtown Augusta, from 5th Street to 12th Street. The project would:

• Installation of new controller cabinets in the following locations:

o East median at 5th Street and 12th Street; remove existing cabinet from base at 5th Street

o West median at 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Streets

• Placement of new mast arms at 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Streets, including overhead radar detection units;

• Replacement of signals at 5th and 12th Streets;

• Installation of ADA-compliant curb cuts, pedestrian poles, and crosswalks at all intersections;

• Installation of new electrical service at the following locations:

o Northeast corner of Greene and 5th

o Northwest corner of Greene and 6th

o Southwest corner of Greene and 7th

o Southwest corner of Greene and 11th

o Southeast corner of Greene and 12th

o In median at 8th, 9th, and 10th Streets

• Installation of fiber optic communications cable along the south side of Greene St.;

• Installation of conduit between pull boxes; the conduit will be directionally bored, so that the only trenching would include short runs between a pull box and the adjacent cabinet or pole foundation. This conduit will be bored at a depth of 4' below pavement.
