Abstract

The proposed project plans for improvements to a 2.9-mile length of State Route (SR) 141 (also called Medlock Bridge Road) from Medlock Bridge Road to Hospital Parkway. These improvements include changes to turning lanes at two signalized intersections, SR 141 at Medlock Bridge Parkway and SR 141 at Hospital Parkway, in order to reduce the crash frequency and severity. New South conducted Phase I Archaeological Survey of the intersections. The intersection at Medlock Bridge Parkway currently contains 12-foot-wide left tum lanes that are approximately 200 feet in length for both the northbound and southbound SR 141. The northbound left tum lane on SR 141 at Medlock Bridge Parkway will be extended approximately 200 feet into the existing median. The Hospital Parkway intersection currently contains 12-foot-wide left turn lanes that are approximately 200 feet in length on the northbound side of SR 141 and 170 feet in length on the southbound side of SR 141. The northbound left tum lane at SR 141 and Hospital Parkway will be extended approximately 310 feet and the southbound left turn lane will be extended approximately 235 feet into the existing median.
