Phase I Archaeological Survey of the Proposed Sandy Creek Bridge Replacement, Jackson County, Georgia

Report Number
8880
Year of Publication
2001
Abstract

The proposed project will replace the existing SR 334 bridge over Sandy Creek, which currently has a sub-standard sufficiency rating of 47.76. In addition, in order to correct this currently sub-standard horizontal curvature and poor sight-distance north of the bridge, the project will create a new location alignment at this curve that satisfies current AASHTO guidelines. The length of the proposed bridge replacement and associated roadway improvements is approximately 2,500 feet. The project is located in the southeast corner of Jackson County, along SR 334 at the crossing of Sandy Creek, approximately 1 mile east of the intersection of Commerce Road (US 441/SR 15) and SR 334.
