Abstract

The proposed project would construct a four-lane new location bypass located to the south of Rome, Georgia. This project begins approximately 500 feet (ft.) east of US 27 /SR 1, where it ties to the Southwest Rome bypass, and generally follows along the south side of the existing Booze Mountain Road/CR 633 eastward. The project crosses Old Cedartown Road/CR 631 about 600ft. south of its intersection with Booze Mountain Rd., and continues east with a single bridge over Reeceburg Road, Silver Creek, and the Southern Railway south of the Silver Creek Community. Turning toward the northeast, the project bridges again over Old Rockmart Road/CR 633 and ends at the intersection of SR 101 and Preacher Smith Road/CR 96 where it ties into the Southeast Rome bypass project [EDS00-0027- 00(127), PI 662420]. The proposed roadway is a rural four-lane divided by a 44ft. grassed median. The alignment is predominantly on new location with a minimum right-of-way width of 250 feet. The total project length is 3.33 miles.
