The project consists of the replacement of the SR 120 Bridge at Singleton Creek, located in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The existing 2-lane bridge is 75 feet long and 24 feet wide; it has three spans that are each 25 feet in length. SR 120 at this location is classified as an urban minor arterial and a designated school bus route that also supports transit buses. The existing bridge approaches consist of two 12-foot wide travel lanes (one in each direction) with grassed shoulders and ditches. The existing right-of-way (ROW) varies from approximately 80 to 105 feet.
The proposed project would replace the existing SR 120 bridge over Singleton Creek, as well as reconstruct both bridge approaches. The replacement bridge would be approximately 120 feet in length and have three spans, each approximately 40 feet long. The replacement bridge would be 58 feet wide with two 12-foot wide travel lanes (one in each direction), a 14-foot wide westbound left turn lane, and two 10-foot wide outside shoulders (2 feet paved). The proposed approaches would consist of two 12-foot wide travel lanes, a 14-foot wide westbound left turn lane on the western approach, and 10-foot wide outside shoulders (2 feet paved). The total proposed project length is approximately 2,000 feet (.38 miles). Additional ROW is anticipated along the south side of the corridor with the width varying from the existing width to a maximum of 200 feet.
