Abstract

This project consists of a bridge replacement on Jordan Hill Road over Troublesome Creek, located approximately five miles north of Griffin, in Spalding County, Georgia. Originally, the proposed project concept involved building a bridge on new alignment to the east of the existing location. This project was surveyed by Jim Pomfret in December of 2007; no NRHP eligible sites were located during this survey. The revised project concept involves replacing the existing bridge by closing the road and removing the existing bridge. The proposed bridge will be 90 feet long by 40 feet wide. The existing right-of-way is approximately 80 feet along the roadway. The proposed roadway width will consist of two 12-foot lanes with curb and gutter and sidewalks on the south side of the project and 6-foot grass shoulders on the north side of the project and on either end of the bridge. The proposed right-of-way will be 30 additional feet on each side of the roadway for a total of 140 feet of right-of-way. The approximate project length is 0.19 mile. An archeological survey consistent with these project revisions was performed within the project corridor.
