Abstract

Approximately, 500 cubic yards of material were removed from the spring site located on the attached map. Of the material removed, at least 50% was composed of organic material such as leaves and limbs. The remaining material was course sand and a few pieces of limestone. With the exception of the limestone, all the material removed appeared to have been recently deposited by the flood of 1994. The spring site was deepened to approximately 37 feet, at which point cool water was located. Although no spring boil was detected, we hope that further work with a small air lift pump will restore more of the spring's original flow.

Stumps prevented the barge from getting to the spring site located near river mile 24. Therefore, we will look at alternative ways to work with this area, and will keep your office informed.
