On January 7, 1978, a preliminary survey of archaeological reconnaissance was completed at the fireside subdivision south of Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. Fireside subdivision lies between Redd and Mutimer Drives.
In my opinion, this project area does not require additional survey or investigation. Most likely occurrence areas are on adjoining properties, which are already occupied and altered. Terrain and environment of subject tract does not lend itself to likely archaeological site occurrence. Less than 5% of surface visible. Most extensive non-visible area is in wet drainage area on South end of property. Tract slopes quite a bit, not much room for a probably site.
