Abstract

A Phase I marine archaeological survey of the proposed Radisson Hotel riverwalk extension in Savannah, Georgia was performed by Panamerican Consultants, Inc. in October, 1989. Subbottom profiler, side scan sonar, and magnetometer systems were used to inspect the project impact area along the south bank of the Savannah River. The remains of a turn-of-the-century vessel and a historic ship ways structure were discovered. The findings of the marine survey are discussed and recommendations for further consideration of the cultural resources discovered are presented.
