Cultural Resource Services, Inc. conducted a cultural resource survey of the Covington, Newton County, Georgia 201 Wastewater Facilities addition on June 21, 1980.

This report constitutes the results of an archaeological impact survey conducted on October 2, 1979, of the proposed site of Rockdale County Park. The field work was conducted by Timothy Mistovich, under the direction of Roy S. Dickens, Jr.

Cultural Resource Services, Inc., conducted a cultural resource pedestrian survey of the Warm Springs, Georgia, water and sanitary sewer system. Visual surface observations and sub-surface test pits revealed one site, CRS 124.

A Cultural Resources Survey and Site Evaluation was performed for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers fee owned lands at the margins of Walter F. George Lake, in Henry, Barbour, and Russell Counties, Alabama and Clay, Quitman, Stewart, and Chattahoochee Counties, Georgia.

A comprehensive cultural resource survey of the McIntosh Reserve was performed in 1980 (Mistovich, Wills & Oakley). Of the twenty prehistoric and historic sites located at that time, two were discovered in the vicinity of the proposed lake site.

An archaeological testing program of four sites on Walter F. George Lake, Georgia and Alabama, was performed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.

The St. Marys River forms the state boundary between extreme southeast Georgia and extreme northeast Florida. Located in the Atlantic Coastal Plain physiographic district, the river enters the Atlantic Ocean between Cumberland Island on the north and Amelia Island on the south.

Nineteenth-century descriptive and photographic information on Overlook Mansion exists for most of the house, grounds, and outbuildings. There is, however, little information on the backyard areas adjoining the 1870 ballroom and 1858 dining room.
