Abstract

The proposed project would improve and enhance pedestrian facilities in Tucker, Georgia. The limits of the project include improvements on both sides of 1st Avenue from Fellowship Road to Lynburn Drive, continuing along the south side of Lynburn Drive to Lawrenceville Highway; along the west side of 2nd Street from Railroad Avenue to 1st Avenue and along both sides of 2nd Street from 1st Avenue to Fellowship Road; along both sides of 4th Street between Railroad Avenue and Lavista Road; and along the south side of Fellowship Road from 2nd Street to the existing sidewalk just south of Lavista Road. The total project length is 1.01 mile, an increase from the previous design by .11 mile.

Proposed improvements include Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant 5-foot sidewalks, ADA compliant wheelchair ramps, and granite curbing. Other amenities may include landscaping, benches, trash receptacles, bike racks, and pedestrian and street lighting. Improvements would be constructed to maintain on-street parking. Angle/parallel parking spaces would be replaced where possible with streetside spaces.

Existing ROW on 1st Avenue varies from 53 to 100 feet, and from 30 to 100 feet on 2nd and 4th Streets. For the construction of the proposed project, additional land will be required. Approximately 2,911.11 square feet (.068 acre) of ROW, 27,748.45 square feet (.63 acre) of 2 temporary easement, and 6,210.1 square feet (.15 acre) of driveway easement would be required. These acquisition amounts represent an increase in required ROW by 130.68 square feet (.003 acres), a decrease in required temporary easement by 9,583.2 square feet (.22 acres), and an increase in required driveway easement by 1,742.4 square feet (.04 acres) from the previous design.
