Abstract

Cardno, Inc. (Cardno) has completed archaeological survey of part of the proposed Dalton Expansion Project, in Georgia. This letter details Cardno's findings and management recommendations specifically for three previously unsurveyed parcels. Two of these parcels, designated as the Bank Owned Tracts, are located in Douglas County, and one, designated as the Moon Investments Tract, is in Bartow County (Figure 1). Access to the two Bank Owned Tracts and to the Moon Investments tract was previously denied and only very recently granted through litigation. Whereas none of the Bank Owned Tracts have been previously surveyed, approximately 75 percent of the Moon Investments tract has been surveyed previously, with survey permission rescinded by the landowner before survey could be completed fully. The results of Cardno's archaeological survey for the three parcels are described in this document. Following a brief description of the environmental setting, methods used for field survey are described. The results of archaeological resources survey will then be described. Following this, management recommendations for each surveyed tract will be discussed.
