Abstract

In order to comply with the Section 106 process of the National Historic Preservation Act of

1966, this Historic Resources Evaluation report determines the Area of Potential Effect (APE)

of the proposed Substation. In addition, this report determines the National Register of

Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility of resources surveyed within the APE. This report also

determines the Adverse Effect, if any, of the Frey Road 230 kV Switching Station project on

NRHP-eligible resources within the APE. If appropriate, this report documents Georgia

Transmission Corporation’s alternatives to avoid adverse effects and planning to minimize

harm. The Mitigation of Adverse Effect is outlined in the Programmatic Agreement among the

Rural Utilities Service, the Georgia State Historic Preservation Officer, the Advisory Council

on Historic Preservation and Georgia Transmission Corporation, which was implemented in

2001.
