Abstract

The bridge maintenance project includes bridge jacking and associated approach work at two locations: CR120/Thompson Mill Road at I-985, and SR238/Gumlog Road at I-85. Bridge maintenance includes correction of spalls, correction of delamination, repair of cracks in slope-paving, joint replacement, painting of superstructure, hydro-demolition of the deck, and overlay with Portland Cement. Approach work includes roadway and shoulder work extending toe of slopes within existing ROW, replacement or extension of existing drainage structures, and the replacement of rip-rap at drainage outlets. Current bridge heights are: CR 120 - 16 feet, 2 inches; SR 328 - 16 feet, 3 inches. Target bridge height after jacking at both locations is 17 feet. All work is proposed within the existing ROW, which measures approximately 196 feet (60 meters) wide along CR 120 and SR 328, and approximately 395 feet (120 meters) wide at interstate corridor. Approaches consist of approximately 495 feet (150 meters) of existing paved roadway and ROW leading to the bridge spans. Approaches include interstate ROW surrounding the bridge abutments and spur roadway ROW within approximately 495 feet (150 meters) of the bridge span.
