Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the extension of the third northbound lane along SR 400 for approximately 0.75 mile to Improve the transition from the existing four-lane northbound section that terminates south of McFarland Parkway to the two-lane section that extends northward to the Big Creek Greenway. The proposed three-lane section would address the merging bottleneck of SR 400 northbound traffic near McFarland Parkway, thus improving travel limes along the corridor. The additional lane would be constructed within the existing median, Including restriping of the existing SR 400 from the McFarland interchange south to a point along between Union Hill Road and McGinnis Ferry Road. Approximately 6,200 feet of the lane extension can be completed with restriping alone, while the remaining 3,600 feet will require additional pavement to be constructed. Therefore, all construction would be conducted within the existing right of-way (ROW}. The existing ROW ranges from 161 feet to 800 feet at its maximum. The total length of the project is 1.85 miles.
