Abstract

The Town of Moreland Downtown Streetscape TE Project would construct sidewalk, curb and gutter, drainage improvements and selected pavement widening along Main Street, Camp Street, South Railroad Avenue, Church Street, College Street, and on town property between College Street and Main Street behind the Town Hall/Hosiery Mill property. The project would include 16 pedestrian lights 4 bike racks, 11 ADA ramps, and 6 benches. No irrigation or landscaping is proposed. Parking spaces along Main Street would be modified by adding a 6-foot wide paved section to provide parallel parking spaces while maintaining the travel lane. The west side of Church Street, between West Camp and Main Streets, would be improved by removing an existing two foot high, 140-foot long concrete block wall and steps (Figure 9) and replacing it with a 140-foot long modular block retaining wall with handrail. The existing parallel parking on the west side of Church Street would be extended to the south to Main Street, creating a 7-foot wide striped parking lane. A permanent 9.5-foot by approximately 60-foot easement would be required from the owners of the Old Post Office on Main Street for the connecting sidewalk from College Street to Main Street (Figures 3 and 7). The total length of sidewalk is 1,875 feet.
