Abstract

The proposed projects consist of the widening and improvement of Sigman Road (CR 435) from east of Lester Road to Dogwood Connector in the central portion of Rockdale County, Georgia, approximately 1.5 miles north of the center of Conyers. The purpose of the proposed projects are to relieve congestion and reduce the potential for crashes and crash- related injuries and fatalities along this established travel corridor by widening and improving the existing 2- lane rural roadway to a 4-lane divided facility consisting of four 12-foot lanes with a 2Q-foot raised grassed median, 16-foot outside shoulders with curb and gutter, and 5-foot sidewalks. The proposed projects would provide an efficient and safe facility with separate tum lanes for all vehicle movements at controlled access points along the length of the projects. These projects serve as a circumferential route around the City of Conyers to access major transportation facilities such as Interstate 20, SR 1.38 and SR 20. The projects are proposed in three phases. Existing ROW for all three phases is 80-100 ft. Proposed ROW for all three phases is 100-136 ft.
