Abstract

This project would continue the development of trails in the Greatest Generation Memoria Park (GGMP), located in Thomaston, Georgia (Figure 1). The first phase of trails was surveyed, under project PI 0008208, by Gantt (2008) and consisted of a 10 ha (25-acre) portion of the northeast quadrant of GGMP (Figures 1 & 2). However, only the trail along North Church Street was constructed. The proposed would construct 4,400 feet of concrete trail, 7,200 feet of asphalt trail both in the 2008 and present survey areas. Two gateway plazas would also be constructed along North Church Street; one at the intersection at R Street, in the 2008 survey area, and one at the intersection with Goodrich Avenue, in the present survey area. Trail widths would vary between 8 feet and 10 feet. The new facilities would be within city-owned right-of-way (ROW) and no new ROW or easements would be required.
