Abstract

The proposed project would upgrade traffic signal equipment at nine locations in Brooks and Colquitt Counties. The proposed project would also improve pedestrian safety to be in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. All work in Colquitt County would be done within the existing right-of-way (ROW); its maximum width does not exceed 175 feet. Work for the three intersections in Brooks County would not exceed 2 to 6 feet beyond existing ROW, which measures between 50 to 135 feet.

Brooks County intersections: 1. State Route (SR) 38 at SR 76 (Washington Street), 2. SR 38 at SR 76/333 (South Court Street), 3. SR 38 at Barwick Road. Colquitt County intersections: 4. SR 35 at Shade Murphy Road/Gene McQueen Road, 5. SR 35 at Tallokas Road, 6. SR 35 at SR 33 (Pavo Road), 7. SR 35 at SR 33/133 (Tifton Road), 8. SR 35 at Magnolia Lane, 9. SR 33/133 at SR 33 (Sylvester Highway). These intersections will see improvements such as LED vehicular signals, countdown pedestrian signals, ADA wheelchair ramps, crosswalk striping, and other specific improvements at all intersections. The proposed scope of work varies at each intersection, but may include installation of new mast arms or strain poles, construction of bulb outs to define on-street parking, wireless interconnect, new concrete islands or island cutthroughs, pedestrian signal heads and crosswalk striping, and widening of radius returns.
