Abstract

The proposed intersection improvements at SR 140 and East Cherokee Drive in Cherokee County would provide operational upgrades through additional right-turn lanes and signalization improvements. Right-turn lanes would be added to both approaches of East Cherokee Drive and eastbound SR 140. Also, the left-turn lane on westbound SR 140 would be extended to provide an additional 150 feet of storage through overlay and re striping of the pavement. Since access control for commercial uses adjacent to the intersection corners has been a concern, the commercial driveway on SR 140 east of its intersection with East Cherokee Drive would be re striped and reconstructed to provide only right-in and right-out turning movements. Traffic signal head upgrades and improved striping would be implemented on all approaches to provide better traffic operations (See attachments).
