Abstract

This project proposes to surplus three parcels [8 (2.03 acres), 4-A (2 .72 acres), and 4 (3.36 acres)], totaling 8.11 acres, to the National Park Service (NPS). These parcels are in the vicinity of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) within Cobb County, and are currently in the possession of GDOT. When the Kennedy Parkway road system (now Cumberland Boulevard, in the vicinity of 1-75 and 1-285) was being developed in 1991, the mitigation plan for lands impacted within the CRNRA included the transfer of these three parcels (and one other that will be transferred at this time) to the National Park Service to be incorporated into the CRNRA. A quit claim deed conveying these parcels was prepared by GDOT in 1997, but their conveyance was never completed. At this time, the process of legal transfer has been reinitiated.
