Phase I Archaeological Survey for the Proposed Adjustments to Cobb Parkway, Cobb County

Report Number
9028
Year of Publication
2011
Abstract

The proposed project would construct improvements at the intersections of Cobb Parkway at Circle 75 Parkway and at Cobb Parkway at the Interstate 285 (1-285) westbound off-ramp (see Figures 1-4). These improvements would accommodate existing traffic as well as future traffic volumes generated by the Sun Trust Park mixed-use development and stadium. The project would add a free-flowing right tum lane from the 1-285 westbound off-ramp to Circle 75 Parkway, and a right tum lane with a sidewalk would be added to Circle 75 Parkway, which will continue on Cobb Parkway where the lane would taper back to the existing alignment. In addition, sidewalks and curbs at the intersection of Spring Road and Cobb Parkway would be improved. Existing and proposed right-of-way (ROW) along Cobb Parkway is 180 to 280 feet. Existing and proposed ROW along the 1-285 westbound off-ramp is 70 to 180 feet. Existing ROW along Circle 75 Parkway varies from 60 to 80 feet, and the proposed ROW would be 120 feet.
