Abstract

The proposed project would construct multi-use commuter trails at two locations in Fulton and DeKalb counties. The trails would transverse the Ashford-Dunwoody/Perimeter Office Center Complex and Improve the mobility and connectivity between the commercial, residential, and institutional resources within the project area. The proposed project would include approximately 2,000 feet of sidewalk improvements along Ashford-Dunwoody Road, in 1he city of Sandy Springs, in Fulton County, and approximately 3,000 feet of sidewalk improvements along Peachtree-Dut1woody Road in the city of Dunwoody, in DeKalb County, for a total length of approximately 5,000 feet (.9 mile). The proposed Peachtree-Dunwoody Road trail would begin at Hammond Drive and end at Central Parkway. The proposed Ashford-Dunwoody Road trail would begin at Hammond Drive and end at Perimeter Center West. The project proposes to reconstruct the western shoulders with a 10-foot wide, two-way bicycle side path, a minimum of five feet from the back of curb. A separate, parallel, 6-foot pedestrian walkway is proposed outside of the bicycle pathway, outlined by brick paver course, to both satisfy the Perimeter Community Improvement District's (PCID's) public space standards and to provide a tactile division between the pedestrian way and the bicycle-pathway. Existing tight-of-way (ROW) along Peachtree-Dunwoody Road varies from approximately 75 feet to 115 feet. Existing ROW along Ashford-Dunwoody Road varies from 120 feet to 150 feet. To complete construction of the proposed improvements, some ROW acquisition would be necessary.
