Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-042-2(18), Baldwin, County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources , especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. This project will consist of widening and reconstruction of the existing three lane facility (U.S. 441/S.R. 24) from the existing widened section near Lakeside Drive, south to West Gwinnett Street to accommodate two contiguous travel lanes in each direction separated by a flush center median (two-way left turn lane). The total project length of .46 mile is located within the City of Milledgeville.
