Abstract

Project F-007-1 (36) Seminole County

This is the proposed widening and reconstruction of U.S. 84/S.R. 38 in Seminole County. The project begins at the Donalsonville east City Limits (where the existing four lane urban section ends) and extends east for 2.4 miles to County Road 24 just west of Iron City. U.S. 84 will be widened on the south side to four 12 foot 1anes with a 50 foot median. Project F-007-1 (37) Decatur County This project is to begin west of Wheat Street on existing U.S. 84. From this point east to the existing Bainbridge Bypass, this facility is to be widened symmetrically using four travel lanes with a 14 foot flush median, on a curb and gutter typical section. A transition will be made through the Bypass interchange to change the typical section from a five lane roadway to a four lane divided roadway with 50 foot median with new roadway on the south side. At the Rose Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery some right of way reduction will be made to minimize impact on the graves. At the western boundary of the Curry Hill Plantation, the widening will be shifted to the northern side of U. S. 84 to the western railroad grade separation at Climax, approximately 6.5 miles. In Climax, U.S. 84 will have four lanes with a 50 foot median on new location going south of Climax without crossing the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad mainline and intersect existing U. S. 84 east of Climax past the point where the eastern railroad grade separation has been constructed. This new location would be approximately 2.5 miles long. The required right of way will be approximately 200 feet on new location: In Climax other alternate alignments were considered and eliminated. Project F-007-1 (38) Decatur County This is the proposed widening and reconstruction of U.S . 84/S.R. 38 in Decatur County. This project begins in Brinson at State Route 310 and extends east 8.8 miles to the Bainbridge Bypass. From Brinson, U.S. 84 will be widened into four 12 foot lanes with a 50 foot median with new lanes on the north side to County Road 99. Between County Road 99 and County Road 103, two alternates are proposed: Alternate I would be to build on new location south of existing U.S. 84; Alternate II would be to widen U.S. 84 on the south side. The widening from County Road 103 to County Road 21 is proposed to be on the south side. From County Road 21 .to the Bainbridge Bypass, the facility will be widened on the south side. From County Road 21 to County Road 240, alternate alignments were considered and eliminated. The ramp on the existing Bainbridge Bypass in the southwest quadrant will be reconstructed. State Route 253 Spur will be relocated to the west and the ramp will connect to U. S. 84. All segments will consist of four travel lanes with a 50 foot width grassed median. The required right of way will be an additional 82 feet on existing location and 200 feet on new location. Project f-007-1(39) Seminole-Decatur Counties: This is the proposed widening and reconstruction of U.S. 84/S.R. 38 in Seminole and Decatur Counties. This project begins~ at County Road 24 just west of Iron City and extends easterly for 7.65 miles to Brinson. From County Road 24 to the Iron City east City Limits, there are two alternates. Alternate I will be to widen symmetrically existing the existing facility into four 12 foot lanes with a 20 foot raised median for 1.2 miles. Alternate II will have four lanes with a 50 foot median for 1.25 miles on new location on the south side of Iron City and connect to the existing highway just east of the Iron City east City Limits. From Iron City U.S. 84 will be widened to four 12 foot lanes with a 50 foot median. The new lanes will be on the south side of the existing facility from Iron City to the Decatur County line. The new lanes will shift to the north side from the Decatur County 1 i ne to Srinson at State Route 310. The required right of way will be an additional 30 to 200 feet. Project F-007-1 (40) Decatur-Grady Counties This is the proposed widening and reconstruction of U.S. 84/S.R. 38 in Decatur Grady Counties. This project begins just east of Climax at the railroad separation and extends 12 miles to the existing four lanes in Cairo. From Climax, U.S. 84 will be widened into four 12 foot lanes with a 50 foot median with the new lane on the south side for distance of 4.3 miles to the west City limits of Whigham. From the west City Limits of Whigham, this facility will be widened symmetrically into four 12 foot lanes with a 24 foot width raised median for 1.3 miles to County Road 72. This segment will have ditches for a portion and curb and gutter through the heaviest built-up area. From County Road 72, U.S. 84 will be widened on the south side into four 12 foot lanes with a 50 foot median for a distance of 4.7 miles to County Road 84. From County Road 84, the widening will be on the north side to the City Limits of Cairo where a transition into four 12 foot lanes (with a 14 foot flush median) to the existing four lanes will be used. The required right of way will be an additional 82 feet on existing location and an additional 30 feet through part of Whigham.
