Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BHMLB-9076(3), Clayton County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

The proposed project is to widen the existing two lane bridge on Sullivan Road over the Flint River. The proposed bridge will be 200 feet in length and will provide four 12 foot travel lanes, two in each direction with a 14 foot center turn lane. Ten foot usable shoulders will be added to each side of the bridge. The bridge approaches will be tapered to match the typical section as proposed by the county. The total width of the new bridge will be 82 feet from curb to curb. The center line of the bridge will be symmetrical to the existing roadway alignment. The profile grade will be raised to effect an increase in the waterway opening under the bridge.
