Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-011-1 (36), Troup County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) . The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

Project FR-011-1(36) as proposed would be one northbound passing lane and one southbound passing lane on State Route 1/U.S. 27 three miles south of LaGrange between I-85 and I-185. The project also proposes to relocate a portion of the existing roadway just south of Mud Creek by flattening an adverse curve. Existing right of way varies from 60 to 80 feet and additional required right of way varies from 10 to 20 feet. The relocated portion of the project would require 100 feet of right of way. Total length of the project is approximately 2.6 miles.
