Abstract

This addendum report has been prepared to address design changes to PI 0006684. This project was previously evaluated by GT Hill Planners in an Archaeological Short Form for Negative Findings, which was approved by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) on October 2, 2014 (Koch 2014). As described in the Koch (2014) document, the original project would consist of corridor and intersection improvements along State Route (SR) 141/Peachtree Road beginning at Shadowlawn Avenue and continuing north to Maple Drive in the Buckhead Community Improvement District (BCID), within the City of Atlanta. The proposed project typical section consists of four to six 10-foot (ft) travel lanes (two to three in each direction) and dedicated 5-ft bike lanes in each direction. Additionally, a raised median would be constructed and vary in width from 8 ft to 18 ft, including a northbound dedicated 10-ft left turn lane. The proposed outside shoulders would vary in width from 7.5 ft to 10.5 ft. along the 10.5-ft-wide shoulders, the existing planter strip would be removed, and a 5-ft-wide sidewalk is proposed behind the planter box. The original project would extend approximately 615 ft along SR 141/Peachtree Road. The previously surveyed right-of-way (ROW) along this section of SR 141/Peachtree Road varies from 125 to 145 ft. As proposed, the original survey would require approximately 10 ft of new ROW on both sides of SR 141/Peachtree Road. The requirement to consider a 100-ft-Expanded Survey Corridor (ESC) as part of the original archaeological survey was waived by GDOT Archaeology Team Leader Jim Pomfret via email on September 8, 2014 (Koch 2014).
